Why everyone should come out to dinner with my family. Just once.

We are a pretty open family. Very open in fact. I may or may not have asked Pedro if I was getting hemorrhoids during my last pregnancy. He may or may not have agreed to check. And we all jumped for joy when he informed me that "No! No Hemorrhoids for Ann!" I mean we maybe jumped for joy, errr something.

We have no issues talking about farts or pooping. In fact those two are probably two of our very favorite topics. We try to be responsible though too (chuckle, chuckle). We are trying to teach Mason the appropriate times to talk about said topics. We are getting an F+, the + for the effort. We are failing miserably.

Tonight we ate at a local greasy spoon and were seated in a booth closest to the bathroom. We were just about finished when a older man walked by us to use the restroom. Mason blurted out in his three-year-old voice which only works on LOUD, "Is that man going to go POOP?" As if once wasn't enough for the entire restaurant to hear, he repeated himself until I finally answered him.

Awesome. So who's up for taking us out tomorrow night?

You forgot to mention that the man's wife was still sitting at the table next to us when Mason said it...nice.

I love it! Mason is an astute observer. I'd like to sing Mason a little song to the tune of a familiar REM tome: Everybody Poops... Sometimes...

That's awesome. But only because it's your kid and not mine. My husband would fit in with your family so well. Me? I'm coming around. However, I would like to bang it into my husband's head that it's not appropriate for our three year old daughter to announce when she "farts."

Ha ha ha ha ha! I try my best to teach my kids manners when it comes to that sort of thing. When it's appropriate and such. Yeah, Chris? He could care less!

Your post made me laugh. I don't think it is possible to censor a 3 year old!

I’m reaching out to talk to parents about the Maya & Miguel program as part of a marketing project I’m working on with Scholastic. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Maya & Miguel, a show on PBS in the afternoons -- http://pbskidsgo.org/mayaandmiguel -- that emphasizes cultural diversity and language learning.

I found your post and thought I’d reach out to say hello and ask if you’d like to receive a free Maya & Miguel DVD. If you’d like to receive the DVD just email me at Kerri at boldmouth.com with your address and I’ll have it shipped it out to you.

If you do choose to blog about Maya & Miguel show or episodes on the DVD, please make it clear how you received the information. Our goal is to be open and honest with everyone we reach.

Kids are so truthful.

That reminds me of the time my child pointed out that a child pooped on the side of a crowded pool. I was so embarrassed.
